About Us

Ms. Nykia E. Johnson, MA, LLPC

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Hi, my name is Nykia and I am the owner of Breakthrough Counseling, LLC.  I am passionate about helping improve the mental health of teens and women, and ending the stigma of mental health in the African American community.  I completed my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Benedict College; I then went on to obtain my Master of Arts Degree in Community Counseling from Spring Arbor University.  I am licensed to practice as a Professional Counselor (LLPC) in the great State of Michigan.

As a professional, I have experience working with clients on a wide variety of issues.  My specialties are: Self-worth, Anxiety, Stress Management, and Depression.  Although my therapeutic approach to counseling can be eclectic (uses a wide range of treatment orientations), my preferred treatment orientations are gestalt, person-centered, reality therapy, and coaching.

In addition to Breakthrough Counseling, LLC, I'm also the owner of Everything Elyse, LLC.  Everything Elyse, LLC is an online gift boutique.  Our products & services includes: gift baskets to gift boxes, bracelets, pens, & Everything Elyse Apparel.
